I recently travelled to Tauranga for Caryn Rawlinson’s Moana Seafood Festival. The weather eventually held off (an organiser’s number one nightmare) and the tasty variety of kai moana and beverages were plentiful. The location is great - set along Dive Street on the wharf, amongst existing Tauranga businesses and buildings and to have the three stages and choice of entertainment made for a great atmosphere.
Very ambitious and very successful - lucky Tauranga to have the vision and energy of Caryn and Kimi.
Industry really needs to get behind and support these events, either as stallholders promoting their products, or by attending on the day. The special accommodation rates negotiated with the Sebel Hotel by the organizers for those attending from out of town were a bonus.
Come and see for yourself – 27 November 2010 – the next Tauranga Moana Seafood Festival.

PS: Very special thanks to Derek Jones of Kaikoura for saving the day at Seafest by turning up in record time with a back up BBQ and regulator for me – averting what could have been a disaster.
