ACC's annual levy consultation began last Friday. The levy-setting process includes ACC releasing the levy rates it is proposing for the next year and to seek public submissions on them. Submissions are considered and recommendations provided to the Minister for ACC, who makes the final decisions.
This year ACC is also consulting on the implementation of ‘experience rating’ into the Work Account. This means that each organisation’s levies would be based partly on its claims history. In the opinion of ACC this will ensure that levies are fairer, and will also provide an incentive for businesses to improve their injury prevention and injury management performance.
Employers have the opportunity to have a say on the proposed 2011/12 levy rates and experience rating proposals.
The consultation documents can be found at www.acc.co.nz/levyconsultation along with instructions on how to make a submission.
Tom Clark, from SeaFIC’s Policy Group, is coordinating a SeaFIC submission which is due by October 29. If you wish to provide feedback to Tom please do so directly on 04 802 1514.
