Hon. Phil Heatley, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture is to provide the keynote opening address for the Federation of Commercial Fishermen's annual conference that starts on Thursday 12 May 2011 at the Armitage Hotel, 9 Willow St Tauranga.
This is an opportunity to come along to the conference to ask the Minister those questions about the current state of fisheries management in NZ that have been bothering you. Be it TACC setting, observer programmes, area closures or deemed values, this is your chance to have your say in front of the Minister and his officials. There is also a varied and interesting programme for the rest of the conference that includes sessions on the proposed Marine Operators Safety System, protected species and other items of interest to the inshore commercial fisherman and his business.
And of course don't forget our annual shipwreck charity auction and fish 'n' chip dinner. This year we have once again been very well supported by our very generous sponsors:
- Sunderland Marine Mutual Insurance
- Talley's Fisheries Ltd
- OceanLaw NZ
- Stark Bros Ltd
- United Fisheries Ltd
- Dawson Law
- Stallard Law
- Fisheries Consultancy NZ Ltd
- Safe Sea Systems Ltd
- Fisheries Fuel Services Ltd
The Federation Annual General Meeting for 2011 will follow on from the conference at the same venue at 10:30am on Saturday 14 May 2011. Come along and have your say on the governance of your Federation.
Conference registration forms are available at our website www.nzfishfed.co.nz and you can even register and pay on line.
Join us at our annual conference and be a part of the industry by having your say on the issues that affect you and your business.
